Free TB testing is available in North Bay and Parry Sound to the following groups:
- Students entering college or university where it is needed for admission or continuation in a program. Students must bring proof to the TB appointment, or the TB test may not be completed.
- People under the age of 65 who are entering a long-term care facility. This doesn’t include those entering retirement homes.
- Medically necessary TB skin tests covered under the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) for contact tracing, refugees, and homeless/ under housed clients.
- Clients who have proof from a doctor who needs the testing as part of an medical assessment or as part of a treatment plan (for example: medication requirements or ruling out disease).
Note: TB testing at the Health Unit is not available for people who need it for work or high school co-op placements. If you need TB testing for work or for co-op placements other pay options are available. Call your health care provider, local walk-in-clinic or community health centre and ask about the cost. If you are a student, check with your school's health services department about getting a TB skin test.
