When pregnant or trying to get pregnant, there is no known safe amount of alcohol use. Alcohol can harm your developing baby and have impacts that are lifelong.
Alcohol passes into breastmilk and exposes the infant to alcohol. Some babies will not feed as well when exposed to alcohol. The safest choice is not to drink alcohol if you are breastfeeding, especially when your baby is very young.
Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) is a lifelong disability that affects the brain and body of people who were exposed to alcohol during pregnancy.
To learn more about FASD check out CanFASD.
