NORTH BAY, ON - The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit (“Health Unit”) will be ready to serve the public at 345 Oak Street West starting Monday, May 14, 2018. As of next week, the Health Unit building at 681 Commercial Street will be closed.
“Our new Health Unit was designed with the public in mind – their needs, well-being and health,” says Dr. Jim Chirico, Medical Officer of Health. “The new space will allow us to improve our service delivery to our clients in North Bay, as well as to those in the surrounding communities in our districts.”
The new Health Unit is located closer to the downtown core as well as all bus routes. This new location will allow clients to access the Health Unit and its services more easily, and better connect with the public and community partners. Having all programs and services in one location will allow us to better serve our clients.
The Health Unit is welcoming to all of our clients and have their needs in mind. For example, the new building has a family room, and the option of gendered or all-gender washrooms, and barrier-free washrooms. New facilities such as our teaching kitchen will be utilized for educational programming for the public and community partners. New services, such as the adult dental clinic for eligible clients with limited or no access to dental care, will be available.
