NORTH BAY, ON – The North Bay Parry Sound Stay on Your Feet (SOYF) Coalition invites you to stop by the Aging with Confidence Information Fair, a free in-person seniors’ fair taking place throughout June in North Bay, West Nipissing, and Parry Sound to celebrate Seniors’ Month. The information fair will offer information booths to help older adults continue to live independently and remain social. Light refreshments will be offered at all events.
North Bay:
Saturday, June 8, 2024, 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Canadore College The Village (100 College Dr., North Bay; free parking in lots 7 & 8);

- Collect information from a variety of programs and services that support older adults in North Bay

Parry Sound:
Tuesday, June 11, 2024, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Bobby Orr Community Centre (7 Mary St., Parry Sound);
- Learn about programs and services that support aging in place
- Collect information from a variety of programs and services that support older adults in Parry Sound
- Transportation support can be arranged, call 705-746-5602
West Nipissing:
Friday, June 14, 2024, noon to 3 p.m. at the West Nipissing Community Health Centre (68 Michaud St., Sturgeon Falls);
- Learn about programs and services that support aging in place
- Collect information from a variety of programs and services that support older adults in West Nipissing
- Transportation support can be arranged, call 705-498-7662
“In 2021, adults aged 65 years and older accounted for nearly 25 per cent of all individuals in our Health Unit district,” explains Sam Docherty, Community Health Promoter at the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit. “Attending healthy aging initiatives like this information fair will allow individuals to age with confidence by becoming aware of programs and services available in our communities.”

Seniors’ Month events are a partnership between the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit, Stay on Your Feet, The Village at Canadore College and West Parry Sound Campus, CareLink Advantage and Helpline, Nipissing Wellness Ontario Health Team, East Parry Sound Community Support Services, the Older Adult Centre Association of Ontario, West Nipissing Community Health Centre, and local older adults. The event is funded in-part by the Government of Canada’s New Horizons for Seniors Program.

About Stay on Your Feet (SOYF): Stay on Your Feet is a regional strategy aimed at improving the quality of life of older adults. By promoting physical activity, socialization, and overall health, older adults are able to stay independent longer and avoid serious injuries from falls.
