KEARNEY, ON – The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit (Health Unit) would like to advise the public that a harmful algae bloom (cyanobacteria), also known as blue-green algae, has been found in Sand Lake. Species of the algae capable of producing toxins were confirmed by the laboratory of the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks. The toxins in harmful algae can irritate the skin and, if swallowed, cause diarrhea and vomiting.

TOWNSHIP OF CHISHOLM, ON – The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit (Health Unit) would like to advise the public that a harmful algae bloom (cyanobacteria), also known as blue-green algae, has been found in Wasi Lake in the Township of Chisholm. News Release: Reduction of Emergency Department Oral Health-Related Visits in North Bay

NORTH BAY, ON - Fewer North Bay adults have made visits to the emergency department for dental issues since the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit (Health Unit) opened an Oral Health clinic for low income adults in February 2018.
North Bay adults made 630 dental related visits to the emergency department in 2018, down from 800 the previous year, resulting in a reduction of 170 dental related visits. This represents a 21.3 per cent decrease in the rate from 2017 to 2018, and about $87,210 in...
Public Service Announcement - Beaches Are Not Closed

The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit (Health Unit) would like to remind the public that beaches were not closed. The Health Unit has issued advisories for harmful blue-green algae; however, it is safe to swim in the area when the bloom is not present. Harmful blue-green algae advisories do not close the beach, but rather advise swimmers that they need to take caution in the area.
